A few favorites - part 2

I mentioned this custom once previously, but as she is one of my favourites I wanted to revisit her in a little more detail.

Annabel Lee was created for an Arena Literary Swap for Barbgirl1999.  Annabel is based on the poem of the same name by Edgar Allen Poe.  I had read the poem before, but hadn't really connected with it at that time.  However, reading it again I found the imagry both powerful and beautiful.  It was truly a pleasure working on this custom.

Annabel Lee was created from a Blossomforth base.  Her wings were created from Apoxie Clay over a wire frame and each feather was individually crafted.  Her hair is a blend of Dollyhair Hematite, Nutmeg, Chocolate Fudge, Gingerbread, and Espresso.  Her eyes and symbol were, of course repainted with Reaper Master Series acrylics.

Snowswirl

Well it's still Winter, and with the blast of snow a lot of us recieved recently it seems like a good time to post the custom that I made for the 2010 Arena Holiday Swap.

Snowswirl was created from a Skywishes bait.  Originally, she had her snowswirls painted on, as well as her symbol of snowflakes and a snow-reindeer and she was going to be rehaired.  But then the monsters that live in my house got ahold of her and left her covered in chew marks.
Sure, they look cute now...
After brief despair and a bout of foul language, Roomy suggested I get out the Apoxie Clay and see if I could salvage her.  So Snowswirl had some sculpted swirls added to her legs and sculpted hair to cover up the chew marks.  She's not quite what I had in mind when I started, but she's turned out beautifully.

Night Owl and Hoots

Finally, a new custom!

Night Owl was done as my half of a personal trade with Snapdragon on the Arena.  She was made from a Cherry Blossom 3 bait, rehaired in Dollyhair Virgin Snow, Moonlight, and Glow-in-the-Dark.  Her symbols were painted with Reaper Master Series Acrylics and sealed with glow-in-the-dark Mod Podge.  Here eyes were also done with the Master Series Acrylics, and are a new style for me.  I'm quite pleased with the look of them, which is a change as I'm usually not very fond of how my painted eyes turn out.

Night Owl has a buddy with her, Hoots.  Hoots was made from Apoxie Clay, painted with the same acrylics, and sealed with Mod Podge.

Snapdragon was quite pleased to receive Night Owl and Hoots, I hope you enjoy them as well.
